Finazzo Cossolini O’Leary Meola and Hager LLC is a law firm specializing in complex litigation with offices in Morristown, New Jersey and Manhattan. Their attorneys have extensive experience in the representation of insurers in litigated coverage disputes in both state and federal courts throughout the country. The firm also has an extensive subrogation, class action and personal injury practice.


The Challenge

The group was set to launch in fall 2008 with a need to handle highly technical, complex, and diverse matters for a pre-existing client base. To continue servicing these clients the requisite IT infrastructure, normally relegated to firms many times their size, needed to be operational on day one to ensure their clients would be properly supported. Each of the partners was in charge of a specific operational area to set up their firm. Jeremiah O’Leary, one of the founding partners, was in charge of coordinating the IT setup for their company. Working with a limited start-up budget, facing an aggressive and inflexible schedule, and lacking IT experience, he needed the assistance of a resource that could answer his questions, address all areas of IT, and provide him cost effective solutions in a timely manner. Mr. O’Leary reached out to a long-time friend of his who worked at AT&T for assistance. AT&T, realizing their pressing requirements then engaged Twin Lights Group, a leading AT&T Solutions Provider, based on proven experience in delivering voice and data network solutions.

The Solution

Working with Mr. O’Leary, Twin Lights developed a technology plan that addressed their voice, data, mobility and application requirements using best-in-class technologies and services. Where feasible, their strategy employed the use of on-demand technologies to mitigate costs, expedite implementation, and improve reliability and manageability. The resulting system architecture was designed for performance, security, scale, and reliability allowing Finazzo to meet client obligations and grow their business. Key components included:
  • Microsoft Active Directory Network providing a secure environment for users, applications and data storage
  • Dedicated, high-performance Servers for key applications, including Microsoft Exchange, ProLaw, and Summation
  • Storage Area Network for file services and large scale data storage
  • Cisco network switches, routers, firewall and VPN access
  • AT&T Managed Internet and Secure Email Gateway services for fast, secure communications over the Internet
  • AT&T Mobility Services on a corporate plan for both voice and Blackberry services
  • M5 Network's Hosted Voice over IP Phone system with dedicated IP connectivity for high voice quality and access to voice mail through both their phone email systems
  • Remote connectivity through blackberry devices, Web-accessible email, virtual private network, and wireless air cards for mobile computing
  • Laptops and/or Desktops,  IP Phones and Blackberries for each user.

Furthermore, their enterprise class system was designed with inherent redundancy, security and data protection. Key features include:

  • Servers and SAN with dual power supplies, protected by UPS (battery backup) system
  • System, Database, and User data back up to disk and tape
  • Dual connections to the Internet and to VoIP voice services, with automatic failover, ensuring high-availability access to their critical business systems
  • Site protection for their Exchange email system and phone system through hosted AT&T Secure Email Gateway and M5 Voice solutions
  • A second layer of email security through AT&T Secure Email Gateway service


The Results

Finazzo Cossolinni O’Leary Meola and Hager opened their doors on time, moved into their office with all the IT in place and ready to use, and their clients didn’t miss a beat. Over the course of the subsequent year, their networks and systems performed flawlessly through a combination of best-practice design, built-in redundancies, and use of hosted voice and security services.
