What is SaaS? "Software as a Service" is a software distribution model in which applications are hosted by a vendor or service provider and made available to customers over a network, typically the Internet. Popular examples are Customer Records Management (CRM) tools.

 According to Gartner SaaS "will account for 25 percent of new business software by 2011".

@task is a new On-Demand project and process management tool in the SaaS space that can enable your business to:

Twin Lights chose @task as this months featured solution due to our own internal success with the product. This very newsletter is the result of a collaborative effort between our sales, marketing and partner channels division, all tracked, managed, and delivered using the suite. What @task really enabled us to do was find a minimally time intensive way to make progress every day as well as track our status in content creation. We at twin lights had a lot of creative minds each with their own input. So naturally, trying to sift through it all and decide what should or shouldn't appear, as well as get partner input was a challenge unto itself.

However, @task not only gave us visual representation of where we stood in creation, it gave us a place to intelligently store revisions of documents that would later become the body of this mailer. Now clearly this is a much smaller scope than say a new product launch, but in a similar vein, @task has enabled its customers in many different industries to manage top priority projects spanning multiple sites and project teams all while giving the entire team life cycle visibility.

Here are some examples of how @task applies to other industries:

• Advertising and Marketing Agencies: Are coordinating multiple client projects across internal and external resources and  making use of notification features to streamline content creation and reduce doubling of effort
• Financial Service/Insurance: Enhance visibility into their available resources, their capacities, and to plan upcoming initiatives 
• Manufacturing: Are able to monitor their entire design and delivery process while gathering team feedback and tracking resources across multiple sites
• Business/Professional Services Firms, such as Accounting and IT Companies: are using @task to track the client engagement process, allowing greater focus on meeting client deliverables

The message here is about doing more with less. As an on-demand solution, you are gaining a site independant way to see the entierty of your company's projects, and their status. More importantly, you are gaining a way to collaborate with all of those involved, see their progress and their availability. Add in that everything is fully auditable, and it becomes the simplest way for a company to monitor and improve its processes that we have ever come across.

Netsuite announces OneWorld:
This month Netsuite, an On-Demand CRM/ERP/Ecommerce solution, announced the arrival of their new OneWorld platform. OneWorld "allows companies to manage their multi-national and multi-subsidiary business operations in real-time around the world", giving mid-market companies the ability to handle finances with country specific regulations, currencies and more all from within their suite.
